Canoeing & Kayaking
Canoeing is a great way to see many spectacular sights this resort has to offer. You can rent out a canoe to tour the outside of the island just as Robinson Crusoe did so many years ago. Guests can rent can rent 2-person canoes or 1-person kayaks to have a great view of the island in a hands-on way. The canoes and kayaks can be rented out to you for three hour slots beginning as early as 8am. All canoes, kayaks, and other accessories must be returned to the rental desk at 5pm.
The Crusoe Petting Zoo
When Robinson Crusoe originally resided on the island, his animal companions were a major part of his successful inhabitance of the island. In honor of animals, the resort has built a petting zoo with collection of animals that includes goats, dogs, cats, and a talking parrot named Paul. Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to play and interact with the animals. The zoo is open on weekdays from 10am to 4pm and weekends from 10am to 2pm.
Scuba Diving & Snorkeling
Although the technology did not exist for Robinson Crusoe to scuba dive or snorkel, these are fun family-friendly island activities. People of all ages can enjoy the experience of the discovery of what occurs below the water. Guests can rent scuba and snorkeling gear for hours of fun exploring the underwater world surrounding the island. All equipment can be rented as early as 8am on an hourly basis and must be returned to the rental desk by 5pm.
Fishing Excursions
Cast away from one of our many piers or ride out onto the open water by renting an available fishing boat. Live bait is available for your convenience. Fishing was a crucial way that Robinson Crusoe obtained food during his stay on the island. Many different varieties of rods are available to suit your preferences. The fishing boats and rods are available as early as 8am and must be returned to the rental desk by 5pm.
The Rock Climbing Wall
Enjoy adventure? The Robinson Crusoe Resort has a magnificent 75-foot tall rock wall to offer to our adventurous guests. We have professional rock-climbing instructors on hand to control and maintain safety of our guests. This wall has an area for amateur climbers as well as an area for expert climbers. This is an exciting activity that can be enjoyed by guests of all ages. The Rock Climbing Wall is open to guests Monday through Saturday from 11am until 4pm.
Bicycle Tours of the Island
Take a tour of this beautiful island in order to fully envelop yourself in the Robinson Crusoe experience. The tour begins outside the lobby of the Maritime Center. The tour highlights the historical sights of Crusoe’s country house, his farmlands, Cave Home, and his canoe landing areas. Tours are given every day and begin at 9am. Bicycles and helmets are provided. The tours will last approximately 2 hours.
Friday's Island Dances
In order to honor Friday, an island dance has been named after him. Trained dancers will perform for our guests as well as hold classes to teach the guests the art of island dancing. Island dance performances will take place on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 9 pm and classes will be held at various points throughout the day by appointment on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Religious Services
Religion was a major part of Robinson Crusoe's life. In honor of that, a non-denominational church has been built on the island. This allows our guests to have access to a religious experience during their stay on the island, similar to Robinson Crusoe. There are services on Sunday mornings at 9 am and 11 am.
Basket Weaving Classes
One of the activities that Robinson Crusoe took part in while on the island was basket weaving. We have many employees with basket weaving experience and they are here to help guide you. Guests are encouraged to design their own baskets that they can take home with them. Classes are offered every day from 4-6pm.
Ceramics Classes
Pottery making was a crucial part of Robinson Crusoe’s survival on the island. He made his own pots and used them to store things and to make bread. Here on Crusoe Island we give you the opportunity to engage in this fun activity. This allows guests of all ages to participate in an activity that was a vital part of Robinson Crusoe's life on the island. So grab a smock and have some fun! Ceramics classes are offered every day from 1-4pm.
Dramas
One of the highlights of the nightly entertainment offered here on Robinson Crusoe Island are plays reenacting Crusoe’s time on the island. The play details Crusoe’s entire story from his days in Spain to his time on the island. These plays are intended to fully familiarize our guests with the history of the island. These reenactments are performed on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights at 8 pm.
